Speaker for the Dead

Graff and Anderson are talking about their life at Battle School, retiring and life on Earth. They also talk about people going to live on the bugger planet. Ender was in court about whether what he did to Stilson and Bonzo was an act of murder or in self-defense. Ender was famous and didn't like all the attention. To him, he was a murderer and others didn't care because he was only a child. Ender got to see Valentine who was able to go with the first colony to a bugger planet and wanted Ender to go with her. The Earth was being run by Statesman, Peter Wiggin, and he planned on using Ender to his advantage. Ender was awarded the rank of admiral.

Ender would govern the colony and Valentine would write political philosophy on this new planet. Ender only wanted to go so he could study the life of buggers. Val wrote volumes of books of the bugger world and sent them back to Earth by ansible. People were on their way to the bugger planets and would learn more about the planet when they got there.

Abra and Ender went to go find a place to settle in where the two colonies could trade but far enough that they could be governed separately. They found a place that looked like the giant's corpse from the fantasy game, so Ender went to the tower in the same place and opened the mirror to find a white ball of silk. Ender could picture in his mind what to do with the ball of silk. It would be a way he could bring the buggers back to life. He grabbed it and would decide what to do with it later.

Ender wrote a book about the queen bugger from her point of view and signed it as "Speaker of the Dead". He wrote a book for Peter after he died. Then Valentine and Ender traveled from world to world trying to find a place for the bugger cocoon.

Ender's Teacher

While on planet Eros, Colonel Graff was ordered to stay, protect and take care of Ender for the period of time he had to be there. Due to the isolation, it caused Ender to focus on his studies. When he wasn't doing his work he would play with the battle stimulator which he had played so often he passed 15 levels and there was no challenge anymore.

The next morning when Ender awoke, instead of seeing Colonel Graff he saw an old man. The room was filled with silence while the old man relaxed and Ender did his self-defense exercises. By his surprise, Ender was soon on the ground due to a kick from the old man. When Ender didn't respond, the old man attacked Ender again and soon both of them were fighting. The old man introduced himself as Mazer Rackham who was the commander of both bugger invasions and his duty is to train the next commander. Both him and Ender spent a lot of time together watching the uncensored videos of the bugger invasions, thinking of strategies to win the Third Invasion.

Mazer spent time explaining important facts about the buggers to Ender. One major fact is that there is a Queen, once she is killed, the rest give up and die. The other fact is that killing doesn't matter to them, they just want to have a species left. Mazer also teaches Ender about the Dr. Device. A machine that sends out a sphere shaped field of molecules that can explode ships in a chain reaction. Ender practiced 10 hours learning how to command a fleet every day with all of his friends and best soldiers from Battle School, including Petra, Dink and Alai. They won every game and progressed each time. Mazer said he wasn't going to give any pity to Ender.

Every night Ender has nightmares about the giant's corpse, the buggers and the stimulator. One night he woke up with a bloody hand because he had been gnawing on it in his sleep. The doctors bandaged it up, but a few days later Ender was very ill. Due to this, he stayed in bed for three days, having terrible nightmares then returned to fight more battles, which he had won. Then one day nobody was in his room when he woke up, so he got ready and went to the stimulator room. Inside the room, there were many men, some that he recognized and others he did not. Mazer told Ender that he was going to have his final examination that day and he was not going to take it easy on him. Mazer informed him that there would be new challenges to overcome as well.

Ender was annoyed of feeling corrupt and destroyed and felt like giving up. He wanted to fail so he would never have to play another battle game ever again. There were so many enemy ships that Ender decided to take the chance and go for the planet without any special formation. His team helped him out by following his commands and blowing up the planet using the Dr. Device. Ender was just happy that they had won and the text was over. After when everyone was cheering, Mazer told him that the battle was the real Third Invasion and they had won. Ender was glad but so exhausted that he went to bed and fell asleep. Mazer and Colonel Graff tried waking him so they could get him to safety. The Russians, Hegemon, Warsaw Pact and the Americans were all fighting and want Ender to run their governments, except Warsaw Pact. Ender didn't care and just wanted to sleep. While he was sleeping he had another dream, but instead of seeing himself as a killer, he was just normal. Later, his friends came into his room and told him that they had won the war and that everything would be okay. The only problem is that none of the kids knew what they would do with the rest of their lives now they weren't preparing for Battle.

Way of Thinking

Even though Graff tries to convince Ender that humans are only tools that others use to survive, I disagree. It would probably be best for the soldiers so they don't get emotionally attached to anyone, but everyone needs a friend. Humans are not objects without feelings, it's hard to be isolated and lonely especially at a young age.
